Remembering our Vietnam vets - 12
08/12/11     Susan Adams  (1965)      Subrosa47@aol.com
Hi Everybody! I recently joined the 64 club and am happy to still be here to enjoy it! Next year the class of '65 will be 65, wow...it's more fun than I thought it would be when I was 17.
I'm really writing to alert you to my stepmom's website, myhenrycounty.com. There is mention today of our Larry Hatcher and others we lost in Vietnam, still heartbreaking after all these years. An exhibit is being planned in Martinsville to honor them. Take a look, perhaps you can help.

please do not forget Lewis Lovell!! A "TRUE" hero in my opinion! A real loss to our country!

Re: Remembering our Vietnam vets
Hey Susan Lee! Thanks for the info.

From the third thru the seventh grade, I lived
in the county and went to South Martinsville
Elementary School. My best buddy and chum
was Alfred Whitehead, an extremely kind person
and a great softball player. My buddy died in
Viet Nam. What a tragic loss!

Re: Remembering our Vietnam vets
Jenkie, I went to school with Alfred also. All these friends were taken young and have been missed all these years. They sacrificed for the USA and we should never forget.

Re: Remembering our Vietnam vets
My first little boyfriend was an Alfred Whitehead in the first grade but we went to John Redd Smith Elementary school in Collinsville. Could it be the same person?

Re: Remembering our Vietnam vets
Hey Sandra Lee!

Alfred lived out in the country--off the
Figsboro Road--past the City Reservoir. I bet
he is one and the same!!

My friend,Lewis Lovell,('65) was also another that was lost in Vietnam. He lived on Highland Ridge on the North Side. His loss touch me deeply way back then.
