Travel time - 12
03/31/12     George Allison  (1965)      gallison@triad.rr.com
Hello Everyone. Heading out for our first rv excursion of the year. Going to spend one week at Ft Fisher in April. Then two weeks at Gettysburg in May. Plan on doing some sightseeing and paranormal activity investigation at the battlefield.
Retirement is great. Best wishes to everyone.

Re: Travel time
Hey George!

Hope the price of gas doesn't slow you down!

Wife and I went to Gettysburg a few years back and it was
a strange feeling to look out at the fields and think about
all the people that died there! The same kind of feeling when we were on the Arizona battleship memorial in Hawaii!!

Drive carefully and watch out for the speed zone traps!

Re: Travel time
The gas prices won't slow us down, just make me cringe when I fill up. but that is part of RVing. We hope to capture something eerie on film at the battlefield. The Arizona did have an odd feeling there as did the Alamo. The fact that all those men died in both places made me sad and proud to be an American. Take care and be safe.

Re: Travel time
Here's a destination for your "Bucket List" - Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. Jane & I have been twice; it's a magical place. It's on the UT/AZ border. You have seen pictures of the valley countless times, even though you may not know it. The vally has been the location for many, many motion pictures and commercials -- think John Wayne, Back to the Future, Marlboro, and others.

Jane is reaading AP exam essays in Salt Lake UT this June. I fly out to meet her in "Weird City" (which is another story), and then we drive south through UT to the south-rim of the Grand Canyon; we've been to the north-rim twice already. This will be our 5th trip to the Southwest.

If you haven't been to the Southwest, go, go! You won't be disappointed.

Best Regards,

Bush

Re: Travel time
Hello Sam,
Thanks for the info. I was stationed in Calif for 5 years and we traveled back and forth from NC to CA 6 times. Not much sight seeing but enjoyed it. We want to travel the northern route and go to the states we have not been to. The northeast and across to Oregon. Our bucket list is long and may not get to all of them, but we will try. Good to hear from you. Take care and be safe.
George

Re: Travel time
Walk the distance across the battlefield of Pickett's division and tell me me you don't get a chill for being an American and a Virginian. Best to you all!

Re: Travel time
I will do that. I know that you have been there many times. Looking forward to being there myself.
Take care

Re: Travel time
George is a very modest man!

If Elvis were still around, he would envy George's travel trailer! Just like an apartment on wheels! Very, very nice!
