State Champions |
I enjoyed seeing that the Bulldogs won State, again. This has been a tough year for us Tarheel alumni, and it was nice to have some good news. I responded to Johnny Bryant's message about the tournament. Over the years I have enjoyed telling the story of the 66 team that had to win State to have a winning season.
It does not look like I will be back for the reunion this time, but I expect it will go well and there will be more. Give my regards to all. |

Re: (no subject) |
Consider the silence this way...perhaps it is indicative of an upturn in the economy.
People who are too busy and/or tired don't have as much time to check out their high school websites. (not there's anything wrong with that) |

Re: (no subject) |
Cindy,
I like to think that flucuations in the stability of the world economy have nothing to do with my consumate ability to waste time. In fact as I watched a good chunk of my retirement funds swan dive into the toilet, I took much solace in trips down memory lane to where my biggest worry was which was cooler, Bostonians or Weejuns.

Re: Silence |
Bob, You are quite right about the silence which has invaded Mavahi.com. I thought that since the Bulldogs won another state championship in basketball, that comments would be plentiful. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I'm still back here in Emporia waiting for all your great comments on this website. I wonder who from the class of '68 will attend the big reunion in May? Re: (no subject) |
one reason for the low activity, is that the group is hard to find. I only found out about it from a friend of the family that went to Mavahi in the 50's he lives in Pennsylvania. He mentioned something about the website.
Yet I live here in Martinsville. Except for a 5 year period living Danville for 5 years after graduating Mavahi; to go to DCC and work at various places I've lived at the same address since I was 3 years old.
Haven't seen anything about it on my ISP Kimbanet.
Another thing, the way its setup you have to go back to the website to get to the email. instead of once you send or reply to something you are subscribed and you get email in your regular email box.

I read them but don't have much to say, I think it's interesting just to see all the things that get posted on this site. |

The Bulldogs won the basketball state championship? Good grief, I didn't see it in my newspaper! If we are quiet, it will be for the first time in our lives. |

Re: (no subject) |
Knowing and remembering just as many from your class as mine, I'm quite confident that the silence is not permanent and that old spirit will resurrect itself on May 4th. Good to see you up on here, Pingry old chap...haven't talked to you in at least 10 years or more since that night you called me at my house in Norfolk. I dropped in on Eddie Dameron (Jim as he goes by now) in Va Beach a few months ago to see how they were doing. Think I'll call him to see if he is coming up. Sorry you're not going to make it Jennifer or Bob. See the rest of you that are coming there--truly it will be a case of "WHO LET THE DAWGS OUT???" |

Re: (no subject) |
Bob,
It would be only fitting that the Bulldogs dedicate this State Championship to Mel Cartwright Sr. My condolenses to his family.
He contributed greatly to the Martinsville basketball program and positively influenced a lot of us. |
