Re: holie molie... City Councilman Mark C. Stroud Sr.
ODE TO A COUNCILMAN

You’ve heard about ol’ Daniel Boone
and also Davy Crockett
Heroes that have blasted off
to space on top of rockets
But it is time to add a name
and we must shout it loud
‘Cause Martinsville’s new hero now
is one they call Mark Stroud

He looked at all the candidates who
In past years were elected, and
Darned if he didn’t go right out
and get himself elected
Mark’s the one who will bring jobs
to our afflicted land
New factories and companies
where the old ones used to stand

Mark has worked for years and years
As bailiff for the jail
And he would always do his best
Each day, and without fail
Now it’s time for him to serve
an even bigger calling
He’ll change some things, and pick us up
And keep our town from falling

So, if you see him on the street
Or up at Lake Lanier
Smile and wave and shake his hand
And give a happy cheer
Martinsville is coming back
And we can all be proud
‘Cause we’ve elected quite a guy
That man that they call Stroud

My pleasure! Glad you liked it.

One of the bands that I play with here in Atlanta has a gig the night of the '73 Reunion, so, unfortunately, Betty and I won't be able to make it. However, we'll be there sometime during Christmas, so maybe we can get together then.

Good luck with Council!
