I was so sad to see that Miss Mary Jane Powell passed away. I have many fond memories of her English & History classes in the 8th grade and subsequent history classes in high school. After all these years, I still think she was one of my best teachers. I think I owe my entire vocabulary to her weekly quizzes in the 8th grade...What a wonderful lady and a truly unique character.

Robin, Miss Powell died???? I knew she moved in with Miss Goode's relatives (after Miss Goode died), and I've asked my Dad from time to time 'cause we went to the same church, but he said since she moved away, he didn't know.
She was a great teacher . . . I wouldn't have said that in 8th grade . . . I was a bit of a pill . . . okay, a BIG bit of a pill LOL . . . but she had a love for teaching.

| I had her in summer school and really enjoyed her class. She could be a pain, but if you did what she expected of you, she was fun to learn from. RIP Mary Jane. |
