Class of '56 Mini Reunion - 3
10/12/09     Esther Sparks Powell  (1956)      powellrs@kimbanet.com
Thankfully there must not be any such thing as a "nostalgia overload," because if there were, all my old school/classmates would probably be trying to prepare a eulogy for me today. Lordy, what a terrific weekend it was. First, I got to attend the class of 59's fiftieth reunion, then Saturday, there was the "Old Dawgs of Cleveland" and Saturday evening, our class of '56 had a mini reunion at Dutch Inn.

The "Old Dawgs" really had a wonderful turnout this time. It seemed to me that it was the largest to date, with a good number from class of '59 and class of '56.

Instead of attending the annual pizza party in the cafeteria that evening, our class of '56 met for a mini reunion at the Dutch Inn, where several out-of-town members were staying. After the meal, Ann Minter Been, husband Paul, Lois Stanley Flippen, Margaret Craig, John and Susan Fields Martin, Glenn Rhodes, Benny and Carolyn Eanes, Esther and Jimmy Brigman, Barbara and Bill Wade, Carol and Jan Pratt, Ed Burch, Anna Sparks and yours truly, all pulled our chairs around together and had a great time telling Mavahi tales (with a few thrown in from Southside and some from Jones Creek). A good time was had by all and speaking for myself, I'm looking forward to next year, when we can get together again. Did anyone notice that well over half of these folks came from out of town? And, oh, yes, there really were TWO Esthers at that table.
