Stella Shupe Meadors, obit - 3
09/20/23     Esther Sparks Powell  (1956)      bhpowell36@yahoo.com
I just learned of Stella's passing today. She was a really sweet person. I don't think I ever heard anyone make a bad comment about her. I am so saddened to have missed her funeral. We had been friends since the 4th grade. She was a very proud class of '56 "Old Dawg." My deepest sympathy to her daughter, Robin, and the rest of her family.

Obituary
Stella Shupe Meadors, 85, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023, at the Mountain Valley Hospice Home in Yadkinville, NC. She was born July 10, 1938, in Fries, Virginia, to the late Harvey G. Shupe and Alice Jefferson Shupe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Swanson Meadors; sisters, Virgie Shupe and Gaynell Wall; and brothers, Bill Shupe, Gilford Shupe, Jim Shupe, and Glen Shupe.

She graduated from Martinsville High School and retired from DuPont with 35 years’ service. She was the oldest and longest member of her church, Mercy Crossing. She led the Tuesday morning ladies prayer group for over 20 years, and she cherished her church and her friends.

Stella is survived by her daughter, Robin Rogers; sisters, Geneva Eanes and Toni Foley; and brother, Mack Shupe.

The funeral will be Friday, September 1, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Mercy Crossing, 1978 Joseph Martin Highway, Martinsville, with visitation one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Roselawn Burial Park, 103 Clearview Drive, Martinsville.

Thank you to all the caregivers and Mountain Valley staff for helping take care of my mother over the years. A special thanks to special friends, Elaine Wade and Bill Moorefield, and Mercy Crossing for their many acts of kindness.
