INFO ....please! - 54
11/18/04     Ralph Pruitt  (1957)
As a 6th grader at North Martinsville
Elementary my teacher was a "Mr Carter". I
think his full name was William Clarence
Carter and he was a product of MHS, Class of
1946. Mr. Carter was a Reserve Marine
Lieutenant and was called to active duty in
the Korean war. At some point in the war
he was listed as Missing In Action and pre-
sumed dead. I thought he was killed in the
war. However, one night in 1954, I walked
into the old Park-Mor restaurant and there
Mr. Carter sat. I spoke with him briefly
and he was his usual cheerful self. Appa-
rently, Marine Lt Carter turned up in the
prisoner exchange alive and well. I have
not seen Mr. Carter since that "chance meet-
ing" in 1954 at the Park-Mor. I am now won-
dering what became of him. Mr. Carter was
a great teacher and impacted on his students
quite well. If anyone has any info about
him ... please reply to this post on the
site. I check it almost daily and will find
any info that is submitted. Incidently, I
leave no email address because of the bad
luck I've had previously by doing so.

Re: INFO ....please!
What? No info? Surely someone must
recall Mr. Carter. He was simply a excel-
lent teacher and a person with a very "out-
going personality" ... not to mention a
solid Marine Officer that put his life "on
the line" in Korea. Any input will be ap-
preciated ... just leave a REPLY on this
site.
