Yo' This B-Easy the drum line of 1999 was the best and the last to ever come through the MHS band program. Holla Back! Class of 2002 |

This is for the 1999 drum line. You were pretty good but definetly not the best. Try anyone of these for starters 1980-1992. I was a part of 87-90; have a sister who was part of the 89-92; and a brother who was part of 95-98. Don't take my word for it, ask for a tape to watch and see for yourself. Better yet anyone in band now that doesn't think so should ask Mr. Lewis, I marched with him. You should be proud though; these are the greatest bands ever. |

I hate to have to do it, but I have say that the drum line of the '98, '99 squad was exceptionally talented as well as the leadership that year :) Regardless of who the best drum line was, the Marching 'Dogs are STILL the best squad around!! |

OH, PLEASE! ALL YOU YOUNGBLOODS...WITHOUT QUESTION, WITHOUT A DOUBT, THE DRUM LINE OF 80-83 WAS THE BEST EVER TO GRACE THE PLACE. DROPPING NAMES: KENNY GILL, DEREK MARTIN, ADREA ENGLE (IF MY SPELLING RECOLLECTION OF THAT NAME SERVES ME CORRECTLY), JULIA HARRELL...THESE FOLKS COULD CRANK OUT A CADENCE THAT PUTS ALL OTHER YEARS' CLASSES TO SHAME! POWER TO THE PERCUSSION AND WOODWINDS! IN FACT, ALL THE MARCHING BULLDOGS OF THAT ERA WERE SLAMMIN' AND JAMMIN'! DRUM MAJORS: LINDA LAWRENCE, MICKEY DESHAZO, ETC....WORLD'S COOLEST BAND DIRECTORS: BOB MCMILLAN AND CHARLES BUTLER...COME ON, NOW, PEEPS...GET OFF IT! |

The 80's, Mr. Bulter, the tuba section, Mr. Mac... Who's questioning this winning combo? As I recall, back in '85, the drum line won the most awards ever for the Florida trip, not to mention the trunk full the entire band brought home that year... I agree with previous posts, let's go to the tapes and awards. |

i'm going with '99 all the way on this debate. . .even though i might be biased. i lived through 3 band directors. . .we're the only drumline to ever disgust all of them, but they still loved us because we held it down like no other. . .

best bands? |
You kids don't even have a clue! I was in the band ( class of '59) under Ralph Shank , and I doubt that any band since he was the directer could match what we had then. Mr Shank's band always played grade six music and got one's on all banc festivals! The marching bands were always tops and were invited to many major parades.
I know it's hard to go back that far for wome of you, but I remeber like it was yesterday. We were GOOD!
BTW, it won't do any good to try to flame me. I wear a fire proof suit! :-) |
