2006-07 Marching Bulldogs - 55
10/19/06     Jennifer Hodnett Hollandsworth  (1976)      JensNotes@windstream.net
Congratulations to the Marching Bulldogs for being asked to play the national anthem for the Subway 500 this Sunday. I'm a former member of the Bulldog band and I have tickets to the race but I'm even more excited now that I'll get to hear MY high school band perform. The tradition of excellence continues.

Outstanding job by the band Sunday. Showed these Georgians how the real Bulldogs play.

That had to have been a neat experience for the band members. I guess they had to leave after the anthem, unless they bought a ticket to the race. I was in the MHS band, under Ralph Shank from 1957-1962 (got in the HS band as an 8th grader), and remember very clearly going to Winchester, or somewhere up in northern VA for a civil war reenactment and the Apple Blossom Festival in the Spring of 1958. We stayed the night in Harrisonburg. What a blast...We had to drive up old Rt. 11 then and Ralph pointed out his hometown of Buchannan which is just up the interstate from where I live in Roanoke. We all have some fun times to remember in our band years. I'm still living some new ones in the three bands I'm currently in playing baritone and now tenor sax. Yippee.....
